HCR7 Sage Grouse Habitat Resolution Ready For Governor’s Signature
The Salt Lake Tribune reports:
With some grousing about federal management of endangered species, lawmakers finalized a resolution urging federal officials not to designate any private land in San Juan County as protected habitat for the Gunnison sage grouse.
The Senate voted 20-2 to pass HCR7, and sent it to Gov. Gary Herbert for his signature. The House previously passed it 64-3.
The resolution, sponsored by Rep. Mike Noel, R-Kanab, notes that the federal government has proposed to designate 145,500 acres in San Juan County as critical habitat for the bird — and said 95 percent of it is on privately owned land.
It says that it is ironic since the vast majority of land there is public and controlled by the federal government.
Sen. David Hinkins, R-Orangeville, the Senate sponsor of the resolution, said proposed listing would hurt ranching and mining in the area.

Really glad to see this pass!! It is encouraging to see that we have a vast majority in our legislature who care what happens to the people and families that live in SE Utah. (It seems we have 5 that think a bird is more important than people.)
I have had enough fed regulation DC knows best,Can anybody out there find out how much the environmental groups made when they sued the fish and wildlife service??
We’re working on it! The documentation can be hard to find and reading it after you find it induces headaches real fast! You’d be shocked by the number of lawsuits these people file.
These “environmental’ groups are a scam. They take taxpayer money from the gov’t in the form of grants, for supposed “studies” and “research”, then they turn around and sue if their “findings” aren’t followed They all operate as “non-profits”, so they don’t contribute anything to the tax base and they take in billions across the board.with the sole goal of stopping any kind of use of the land or the oceans. They are nothing more than unelected bureaucrats that make a living off the hard work of others. Groups like Suwa, Sierra Club, Greenpeace, CBD, Living Rivers, etc, etc, are nothing more than lawsuit machines. They wouldn’t know or understand real stewardship of the land if it bit them in the butt. They don’t give a hoot about the planet, but they care very, very much about making sure Agenda 21 get’s fulling put in place in America.
