  1. Is Chaffetz the sponsor? The guy who votes repeatedly to cut security to our embassies in the Middle East and Africa, and then complains they weren’t guarded well enough?

Wasn’t there anyone with a better reputation available for the bill?

  2. The Benghazi discussion is a little bit off topic for this blog, so lets talk about the proposed legislation. Who would be a better sponsor for it? Although I sense from your tone that it’s the bill you take issue with and it wouldn’t really matter to you who sponsored it.

  3. The bill probably goes the wrong way on the Antiquities Act — it’s a law that has greatly benefited Utah and its citizens for more than a century, and a law that blazed a path for wise management of public lands that had been devastated — like western Utah, which cannot sustain the grasslands it once had in abundance — but my complaint is with Chaffetz. His judgment is questionable at best. In my experience, he does nothing with an eye to public good, everything with an eye to how much money he can get in his campaign coffers (try not donating to him for a while, see how much attention he pays to you).

Consequently, I tend to look at bills Chaffetz sponsors as not necessary to review for wisdom — they all lack the public spirit and the view to do public good.

Is there a case to be made for the bill? What public good does it serve?

  4. P.S. — note the campaign sign in the photo you used. Ulterior motives on someone’s part?

    • Come to Southeast Utah, oh, right about now would be a good time, to see what good a tourism only economy serves the people.

    • I’m not sure what you mean by “ulterior motives” please explain. the picture is just one of the photos served up by zemanta.
